Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I purchase a piece somewhere else and bring it to the Clayroom to paint, glaze and fire?
A:  Yes!  For $10 outside pieces can be painted, and we will glaze and fire them.
Q: Can I bring a project to a school or home to work on?
A: Yes!  We can coordinate a take-away project.
You can take up to 5 pieces with you to work on elsewhere for the cost of the pieces plus $16 (up to 10 pieces is $32).
Price includes a kit with paint and brushes; glazing and firing included.
Q: Do I need reservation or appointment?
A: No, come on in anytime!
If you are planning to have a party here, you call us to schedule.
Q: Can we bring food and drink
A: Yes! You can bring your own refreshments. Wine and cheese is always nice.
Q: How old do you have to be to enjoy the Clayroom
A: Any age! We can help you with hand and foot prints for the young ones. We provide non-toxic fun for all ages.
Q: How long does it take to paint a piece?
A: It depends on you. You can finish a small, simple piece in a few minutes, or your creative piece may take a few visits to complete.
Q: What if I don't finish my piece - can I complete it later?
A: Yes. After your initial visit, you will only be charged a studio fee for the use of materials.
Q: How long does it take to get my painted piece back?
A: The usual turn around time is four days for glazing and firing. Rush time of two days is available for $5 per piece.
Q: Can I make pottery at the Clayroom?
  We are a primarily a paint your own pottery studio, although some of our studios offer pottery throwing and classes. It is not offered at every studio. See specific studio locations for details.
Q: Can I eat/drink out of my finished pottery?
Is it dishwasher safe?
A: Yes! All items are safe to eat and drink from, and are dishwasher and microwave oven safe.
